What’s Wrong with Bungie

by Andreas Schaefer

This week a shit storm came over us Destiny players as Luke Smith was saying that players would buy anything and players were outraged. I didn’t pay too much attention to it but when the news about the Red Bull Marketing campaign hit I was outraged. When I bought Destiny for Xbox One I wasn’t aware of the exclusive content for Playstation but when I found out I thought that Bungie betrayed the Xbox players. But Destiny was new and two additional DLC were released and so I didn’t think much about it.

But then at E3 Bungie revealed more exclusive content for Playstation and now I was disappointed by Bungie. When I heard about the exclusive content with Red Bull it finally broke the camel’s back and I have enough of it.

Have a look at the current Nightfall: Cerberus Vae III which is an utter and complete joke. Anyone with halfway good weapons can floor Valus in seconds. This shows how content become obsolete over time as players, weapons and armor progresses and so we can play the exclusive content this fall on the Xbox but it will be more a gimmick than a challenge, more like been-there-done-that.
I can remember when the Nightfall was the ultimate test of skills, tactics and patience but now it is nothing more than a longer bounty.

How to fix that?

I don’t want to finish this article without a proposal for a solution. Because of the Red Bull deal Bungie showed that it is possible to have exclusive content available on a per player basis and so I want Bungie:

sell all exclusive content

I am willing to pay the same amount as Sony / Red Bull does even when it costs more than just buying Red Bull (that shit is awful).

Final Though

Right now I don’t know what to think of Bungie. Always they assured us that they are listing to the community and doing what is right but actually they didn’t from the get go with the exclusive content and now they expand on it. I can see that soon Guardians will run around in Coca-Cola cloaks, Blackwater themed weapons, McDonalds themed sparrows etc just to make more money.
I know how expensive game development is and I am will to pay a fair price but this isn’t fair what Bungie is doing to us.

After all the grief from Skolas I now have to deal with this. I am not sure what to belief and if it’s really worth it or if I should quit for good. It will be hard and difficult but there is no sliver streak on the horizon.
